Background
 
In line with AITI’s vision in producing a conducive ICT environment in promoting an innovative and vibrant ICT industry, several initiatives were developed under the ICT Industry Development & Promotion Unit. A few of these programs and initiatives are:
 
1.    AITI Accredited Business (AAB) Status – recognition status for active ICT businesses in Brunei Darussalam;
2.    ICT Accredited Business (ICTAB) – Classification of AAB Status businesses to participate in relevant Government ICT Projects;
3.    The GRANT for development of local ICT & Digital Media industries (formerly known as AITI Grant Scheme) – partial financial assistance for developing ‘Brunei-Made’ solutions by ICT businesses;
4.    Digital Media initiatives including the AITI Next Innovation and Multimedia Award for Sustainable ICT Industry (ANIMASI) Challenge – an annual competition for the ICT industry in producing short digital media clips; and
5.    ICT Industry Dialogues
 
 
Objectives
 
The main objectives of the ICT Industry Development & Promotion Unit are:
·         To plan and execute programs and initiatives in developing the local ICT industry; and
·         To promote the local ICT industry.
 
 
Unit milestones
·         Award  AAB Status to more than 100 ICT businesses in Brunei Darussalam;
·         Award ICTAB to more than 50 ICT businesses in Brunei Darussalam;
·         Grant approximately BND 1.2 Million to eight (8) local ICT businesses under the GRANT for development of local ICT & Digital Media industries;
·         MOU signing between AITI and Multimedia Development Corridor (MDeC) Malaysia in 2011.
