AITI to Offer More Professional ICT Training Programs

The Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) signed an agreement with two training providers, namely Infomars Training and Technology Solutions Sdn Bhd and ‘iLM Academy Sdn Bhd who have been awarded to conduct more ICT training courses under the ICT Competency Program Phase II.
 
The ICT Competency Program Phase II is a continuation of the existing training program that is aimed to train the local citizens with the relevant ICT skills and knowledge, empower the non-ICT job seekers with basic IT literacy, and upgrade SMEs’ employees with professional ICT certifications.
 
Signing on behalf of AITI was the Chief Executive, Haji Yahkup bin Haji Menudin, while Infomars Traning and Technology Solutions Sdn Bhd was represented by its Director, Haji Abd Ghani bin Haji Omar, and iLM Academy Sdn Bhd by its CEO, Hajah Hasnah bte Haji Azri.
 
 
Under this training program, Informars Training and Technology Solutions will be conducting two training courses, namely IC CITIZEN and Oracle Database 11g, whereas ‘iLM Academy will be offering IC3, Microsoft .Net and Microsoft SQL certification courses.
 
AITI will be providing a minimum subsidy of 50% of the training fees to the eligible participants subject to the training course taken. These subsidies will be provided upon successful completion of the course. To be eligible for the training, participants must be Brunei citizens or permanent residents working in the non-government agencies such as registered local SMEs or any member of the public above 17 years of age who is seeking for a job. The participants can either opt for full-time or part-time courses depending on the training package offered. 
 
Meanwhile, a full subsidy for IC3 certification will be given to selected participants of underpriviledged. This is an AITI’s initiative to help increase the ICT literacy amongst this group who are keen to expand their ICT knowledge and proficiency.
 
Currently, there are eleven (11) training courses being offered under the AITI’s ICT Competency Program which is provided by three (3) appointed local training institutions, namely
    HAD Technologies for ICDL course;
    • AT e-Knowledge Solution for Dreamweaver, Flash and Photoshop courses; and
    • ‘iLM Academy for CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security, Project Management Professional (PMP), CCNA, and Managing and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server Environment.
     
    According to the Chief Executive of AITI, “To date, we have more than 360 participants trained and certified with various ICT courses under this Competency Program. We are indeed delighted to learn that some of the job seekers who enrolled in this program were able to get employment. We hope that the participants would take up this opportunity to broaden their ICT skills so that they can become more marketable and competent to meet the industry’s challenging needs.”
