AITI Hosts Stakeholder Appreciation Event for the Brunei Next Generation Network (BNGN) Documentary
The Authority for Info-communication Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) celebrates the production of the Brunei Next Generation Network (BNGN) documentary with an appreciation event for the stakeholders who have contributed to the success of the documentary.
The BNGN Documentary themed  ‘Empowering a Smart Society’ aims to educate the general public on the impact and benefits of broadband and broadband enabled e-services, so as to accelerate the adoption of the service in Brunei Darussalam. It also depicts the government and ICT stakeholders’ efforts to develop the ICT sector including deployment of broadband infrastructure in Brunei Darussalam to realize the Wawasan 2035. The documentary was co-produced by Lailatul Shazanas Production House in Brunei and Reservoir Productions from Malaysia. It was first telecasted on national TV (RTB) on 23 February 2015, in conjunction with Brunei Darussalam’s 31st National Day.
The evening started with a viewing of documentary at the Times Cinema at The Empire Hotel & Country Club followed by a dinner at The Pantai Restaurant. Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Hamzah Pahlawan Dato Seti Awang Haji Abdullah Bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Haji Bakar, Minister of Communications, attended the event as Guest of Honour together with the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Communications and Chairman of AITI, Yang Mulia Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohamad Yusof.
Other attendees include the Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Communications, government officers from the Ministry of Communications, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health, Radio Television Brunei (RTB), e-Government National Centre (EGNC), Telekom Brunei Berhad (TelBru), DST Group, Progresif Cellular Sdn Bhd (PCSB), Brunei International Gateway (BIG) Sdn Bhd, Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP) Sdn Bhd, Bank Islamic Brunei Darussalam (BIBD), and the media.
“This documentary is AITI’s effort in recording the state of broadband development in Brunei Darussalam.  It also painted the aspirations and commitment of government leaders, AITI, service providers and industry players in fulfilling and advancing the sultanate’s broadband growth to achieve a Smart Society.  I hope that this first attempt by AITI to produce a documentary with the help of local and foreign production houses will help to spur more film and documentary productions on Brunei’s development and achievements in various aspects.  Last but not least, I hope this documentary will help Bruneians see the importance and benefits of broadband to government, businesses and society” quoted by the Acting Chief Executive of AITI, Haji Jailani Bin Haji Buntar, at the side of the appreciation event.
