AITI and IDA International collaborates to build ICT Manpower Masterplan for Brunei Darussalam

The Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) today signed an agreement with IDA International Pte Ltd (IDA International) for Consultancy Services to Develop National ICT Manpower Master Plan for Brunei Darussalam and Training to Develop an ICT Industry Competency Framework. 
 
Yang Berhomat Pehin Orang Kaya Hamzah Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdullah bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Haji Bakar, Brunei’s Minister of Communications, and Dr Yaacob Ibrahim, Singapore’s Minister for Communications and Information witnessed the signing ceremony as the Guests-Of-Honour.
 
This Project Agreement is signed between AITI and IDA International, a subsidiary of the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA).  Under the framework of the existing IDA-AITI Memorandum of Understanding, AITI and IDA International are collaborating to develop Brunei Darussalam’s National ICT Manpower Master Plan. It aims to support Brunei’s Wawasan 2035 vision of Brunei Darussalam as a nation renowned for its well-educated and highly skilled people and possessing a dynamic, sustainable economy. ICT is identified as one of the strategic goals towards achieving this vision. ICT is also viewed as a source of new employment opportunities for the young people, as well as an enabler for productivity and innovation across different economic sectors in country. AITI, as Brunei Darussalam’s local ICT industry promoter and developer, seeks to propel the development of skilled ICT workforce to ensure the continued availability of quality ICT manpower to support this strategic goal.
 
Along with the National ICT Manpower Master Plan, training will also be provided to assist AITI to develop Brunei Darussalam’s ICT Industry Competency Framework. It will take into account the current state of human capital, manpower needs of the industries, desired development goals of the Government and the influence of technology trends.
 
This agreement was signed by Haji Yahkup bin Haji Menudin, Chief Executive of AITI and Mr. Vincent Wong, Chief Executive Officer of IDA International.
 
According to Haji Yahkup bin Haji Menudin, “We continue to forge closer collaborations and deepen our relationships with IDA International for greater mutual benefits. Today’s signing signifies another fruit of these efforts, and this will accelerate the national planning and development of the ICT professionals to achieve our long term vision of a diverse economy with a highly skilled ICT workforce.”
 
Mr. Vincent Wong, CEO of IDA International said, “We are delighted to extend our longstanding collaborations on ICT with Brunei and AITI. We hope this ICT manpower project will provide a strong foundation for Brunei towards its long term ICT vision.”
