AITI provides more opportunities for professional ICT certification

The Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) today signed agreements with 3 local training providers to conduct ICT certification training courses for phase 3 of AITI’s Basic ICT Literacy and Professional Training Program.  The training providers were Techno Rada Services Sdn Bhd, Tech One Solutions Sdn Bhd and Infomars Training & Technology Solutions Sdn Bhd.

Present as the guest of honour to witness the signing ceremony was AITI’s Chief Executive, Haji Yahkup bin Haji Menudin. Signing on AITI’s behalf was its Deputy Chief Executive, Haji Osman bin Haji Ladis and Assistant Chief Executive, Julianah bte Hj Ali Ahmad, while Techno Rada Services Sdn Bhd was represented by its Director, Dato Paduka Mohammad Alimin Abdul Wahab,   Infomars Training and Technology Solutions Sdn Bhd was represented by its Director, Haji Zaini bin Haji Omar and Tech One Solutions Sdn Bhd was represented by its Director/Head of Business Development, Lenny Susilawati Binti Sani.

In an ongoing effort to raise the standards of ICT knowledge and skills in Brunei Darussalam, AITI introduced the ICT competency program in 2011.  This program offers subsidised training courses for citizens and permanent residents to acquire basic ICT skills and also upgrade their ICT proficiency and knowledge. The program aims to create a pool of highly ICT skilled workforce and ensure the continued availability of quality ICT manpower for the country.
 
AITI will subsidise a minimum of 50% of the fees for selected training courses which have been successfully completed. To be eligible, participants must be Brunei citizens or permanent residents of at least 17 years old who are looking for employment or individuals employed by private companies and semi-government agencies. The participants can either opt for full-time or part-time courses depending on the training package offered.

The 3 training providers will provide a total of fifteen (15) training courses which will run from February 2015 until December 2016.

To date, more than two thousand (2,000) participants have successfully obtained ICT certifications under the AITI ICT Competency Program. AITI hopes more people will take this opportunity to broaden or upgrade their ICT skills so that they can become more marketable to meet the demand of the local ICT industry’s.

The Basic ICT Literacy and Professional Training Program is supported by the Department of Economic, Planning and Development (JPKE) and funded by the 10th National Development Plan for Human Capacity Development.
