AITI provides opportunities for local ICT companies to promote themselves at COMMUNICASIA 2015
The Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) will lead a delegation to CommunicAsia 2015 which will be held on 2nd – 5th June in Marina Bay Sands, Singapore. This event provides a great opportunity for the participants to extend their business networks and gain insight on the latest ICT products offered in the global market.
A briefing on CommunicAsia 2015 was held at Seri Kerna Hall, AITI. More than 10 companies from the ICT industry attended the briefing. The briefing started with welcoming remarks by Dyg Julianah binti Haji Ali Ahmad, Senior Assistant Chief Executive, Industry Development Group, AITI. She stated that this is the 7th consecutive year that AITI is leading a delegation from Brunei Darussalam to CommunicAsia. Over the past few years, the Brunei Pavilion has served as a productive international platform for the local ICT businesses to showcase their innovations and seek opportunities for partnerships with prominent ICT players from around the region. The event attracts international trade attendees, visitors and exhibitors to build their business networks with other industry experts, witness product launching, discuss on the latest technology trends and gain valuable insight during the Summit sessions.
As part of its ongoing efforts to effectively promote local ICT businesses in the international markets, AITI will provide subsidies of more than 80% of the participating cost for the local companies to join CommunicAsia. The subsidies include:
·         One return economy air-ticket to Singapore
·         One standard hotel room at a hotel of AITI’s choice
·         Airport-hotel-airport transfers
·         A 3x2m or 3x3m booth with a 42” LED screen in the Brunei Darussalam Pavilion
Ms. Claudine Ang from the Singapore Exhibition Services Pte Ltd was also present to pitch to interested ICT industry players about the event. She also shared on some of the interesting features of CommunicAsia this year which include the showcase of technologies required for a hyper-connected world with ground-breaking innovations behind connected cities that change the way users live, work and play.  Singapore Exhibition Services Pte Ltd is the organizer of CommunicAsia.
Dayang Farihah binti Haji Md Said, Manager, Grants and Internationalisation of AITI, also briefed the attendees on the eligibility and selection criteria for participation in CommunicAsia. Local ICT companies who have their own ICT product or services or have their own regional product distributorships are encouraged to take part. Only locally registered businesses with a commercially viable product or content are eligible to participate in this exhibition. Each successful participant will be subsidised by AITI, and only one representative will be entitled to all the subsidies that AITI is offering. The businesses’ representatives must have comprehensive knowledge of the products or services being showcased and be able to demonstrate them to potential business partners or collaborators. Further evaluation will also be assessed through a pitching session by the participants to demonstrate their business potential and personal drive.
Due to limited space, businesses listed with the AITI Accredited Business (AAB) Status will be given priority. There will be a nominal participating fee of Five Hundred Brunei Dollars (BND 500.00) for each participant. To secure a space in this year’s CommunicAsia, a non-refundable deposit of Two Hundred Brunei Dollars (BND 200.00) is required for submission together with a completed application form by 4.00pm, Friday, 20 March 2015. Full payment of remaining balance of Three Hundred Brunei Dollars (BND 300.00) must be paid by 4.00pm, Friday, 3 April 2015.
