APICTA Participants Received Grants From AITI


Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) has organized an appreciation night for Brunei participants of APICTA 2011 in Pattaya, Thailand and for the team who managed the AITI pavilion during the recent TechXpo 2011.
The dinner was held in Tarindakd’Polo Restaurant, JPCC and the Guest of Honour for the night was Yang Berhormat,Pehin Orang Kaya Hamzah Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdullah bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Haji Bakar, Minister of Communications. Also present was Dato Paduka Hj Alaihuddin bin POKDG Haji Mohd Taha, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Communications and in his capacity of Chairman of AITI and the Steering Committee of BICTA.
The dinner was also to present to the winner,Hajah Salma Bee Haji Abdul Latiff from Crescent Sdn Bhd and 2 merit awardees, Chung Hwa Middle School and Brunei Institute of Technology, the grants that they earned for being award recipients in APICTA competition.


The function started with a welcoming speech by Hj Yahkup Hj Menudin, Chief Executive of AITI, which was followed by a speech by the Minister of Communications. In his speech the GOH mentioned that “with the awards of these grants, MOC hopes to convey an encouraging message to all students, enthusiasts and entrepreneurs in the ICT Industry that Government of Brunei Darussalam is keen to support and assist them financially to advance their ICT products development into commercial state products.”
The awardees were presented with a mock cheque for their respective winning category. Crescent Sdn Bhd received a grant for B$50,000, while Chung Hwa Middle School and Brunei Institute of Technology both received $25,000 each respectively.
