ASAFF IPv6 course launch

The Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) today held an opening ceremony for the introduction of the Certified IPv6 Network Engineer Level 1 training course.  The opening ceremony was officiated by Yang Mulia Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yusof, Permanent Secretary from the Ministry of Communications as well as Chairman of AITI and also in the attendees Mohd Reza DP Haji Yunos, Deputy Permanent Secretary.

The opening ceremony began with a welcoming remarks by Awang Haji Mahmud bin Mohd Daud, Executive Director of Asaff Solutions Sdn Bhd who spoke about the need for the deployment of IPv6 numbers to replace depleting IPv4 resources and the technical competencies required to ensure a smooth transition.

Following the welcoming remarks, the Guest of Honour delivered his opening speech where he emphasized the importance of this training to address the implementation of IPv6 to provide enough capacity to cater to global needs. IPv6 also has the advantage of built in security, efficiency, simplicity, flexibility and stability for network management.
 
This was followed by a presentation about IPv6 delivered by a representative of NAV6 (National Advanced IPv6 Center, University of Science, Malaysia) which is a premier centre in the area of Next Generation Internet.  NAV6’s research areas include IPv6, real time multimedia communication, network monitoring, satellite and wireless communication, network security, mobile technologies and internet governance and policy.
 
AITI engaged local ICT company, ASAFF Solutions Sdn Bhd along with its partner NAV6 to conduct the course, which is the first of its kind, in Brunei Darussalam. The course will run from 1 to 4 September 2014 and upon successful completion of the course, trainees will receive a CNE6 (Certified Network Engineer) course certificate endorsed by the IPv6 global forum.  This course is one of many which AITI plans to conduct in the next few months to equip local ICT resources with IPv6 skills.  It is hoped that these courses will propel Brunei Darussalam into the forefront of the ASEAN region in terms of IPv6 competency development in the coming years.
