Brunei Darussalam's representatives to the Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Awards 2015 have done the country proud, by achieving Merit awards in all 3 competed categories.
St John's School, with their project titled "iStudyGCSE" was awarded a Merit prize in the School Category. Similarly, Insitut Teknology Brunei (ITB) was awarded a Merit prize in the Tertiary category, with their project titled "ITB Virtual Campus" and SnapFeed Sdn Bhd achieved a Merit prized in the Retail and Supply Chain Category with their project "SnapFeed".
Brunei Darussalam sent a total of 7 teams, comprising of winners and runners up from the Brunei ICT Awards (BICTA) 2015. A total of 192 entries from 13 member economies competed in the prestigious international ICT competition, which was held in Colombo, Sri Lanka from the 17th to the 22nd November 2015.
Present to welcome the delegation upon arrival at the Brunei International Airport was Haji Osman bin Haji Ladis, Acting Chief Executive of the Authority for Info-Communications Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI).
Brunei's participation in the APICTA Awards is a continuous initiative by the Ministry of Communications to stimulate innovation and creativity in ICT, as well as to develop the nation's ICT sector by encouraging individuals, students and businesses to compete at the international level. Since 2008, Brunei has achieved two (2) winner awards, thirteen (18) merit awards and one (1) special mention.
