CSR visit to autism centre
The Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) staff recently visited SMARTER Autism EDGE centre at Kg Mata-Mata to meet and mingle with 54 of the resident children with autism.
The visit is part of AITI’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) intiative to support the nation’s communities. The delegation was led by the Assistant Chief Executive of Corporate Services for AITI, Pg Hj Baharudin bin Pg Hj Jaludin.

The objective of the visit was to raise awareness amongst AITI staff  on children with autism spectrum order. This experience is to introduce the AITI staff into the world of children with autism, in line with SMARTER Brunei’s vision of creating an autism friendly society that enables children with autism to adapt and live independently with dignity. With this understanding from the visit to the institution, the staff will have the knowledge on the required etiquettes needed to interact and live cohesively with children with autism.
The AITI staff were briefed on the activities and facilities of the centre. This gave the visiting staff a feel on the energy and the commitment required to nurture the children to be an independent, contributing and productive member of society.
The children were later presented with goodie bags followed by a group photo session with the children as a memento for the special day.
