Contract Signing for the Fibre Test Equipment

12 March 2014 - A contract signing ceremony between Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) and PAR Sdn. Bhd. for the procurement of Optical Fibre and Broadband Test Equipment, took place at AITI in Anggerek Desa.


The objective of the project is to depict the government efforts to develop the ICT sector including the deployment of FTTH infrastructure to realise the Wawasan 2035. The project, initiated through an open tender, was awarded to PAR Corporation Sdn. Bhd. and the deliverables include equipment delivery, training and maintenance of optical fibre and broadband test equipment.


According to Haji Yahkup bin Haji Menudin, Chief Executive of AITI, “Next Generation Broadband Networks are key component to ensure economic success for the country and realize the Ministry of Communications' strategic plan of creating a smart society and ensure excellence in communications to enhance national competitiveness. The importance of high quality of broadband services becomes the main agenda to accelerate the take-up of broadband utilization in Brunei Darussalam.


To achieve quality of service, experience and customer satisfaction, AITI has identified the need and the criticality of performing frequent technical auditing to ensure the quality of work and services is done in accordance with International standards and best practices. As such, optical fibre and broadband test equipment is required for use by trained personnel from AITI. The technical audit will also support the Code of Practice and Standards of Performance Relating to Quality of Services for Telecommunications Sector in Brunei Darussalam (2014) launched by AITI on 1st March 2014.


At this juncture, AITI will work closely with the relevant government agencies to ensure broadband infrastructure in new housing developments meet the required standards.”


The contract signing was witnessed by Awang Hj Yahkup bin Hj Menudin, Chief Executive of AITI. Signing on behalf of AITI was Awang Queh Ser Pheng and Awang Haji Jailani Bin Haji Buntar and representing PAR was Awang Pong Seh Woei and Awang Kelvin Chen.

The project will be conducted in three (3) phases: delivery of equipment, user training and acceptance test and is expected to complete within 2 months.
