The Girls in ICT Day event is an initiative backed by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) to create a global environment that empowers and encourages girls and young women to consider careers in the growing field of ICT. The event is celebrated every fourth Thursday of April annually. This year marked the second year of Girls in ICT Day celebration in Brunei Darussalam.

AITI and its supporting partners also wish to convey that this event is not intended to discriminate the males; but rather to promote and increase the involvement and interest of the females in ICT with the support of its male counterparts.

AITI also invites the general public to share any other initiatives or activities to commemorate this event or those simply promoting ICT-related activities towards improving the girls’ and women’s involvement in this field by tweeting the global hash-tag #girlsinICT or emailing it to Ms. Farihah Said at farihah.said@aiti.gov.bn .
