UBD Students leave for INSPIRE Internship Program in Singapore

Two (2) students from the Universiti Brunei Darussalam left for Singapore to undergo the five-month internship program at MediaCorp (S) Pte Ltd. These students are the recipients of the prestigious INSPIRE Internship Program by AITI, which is an internship program that offers the opportunities for students to apply and enhance their knowledge and skills through meaningful work experience and interaction with professional people in a real-life working environment. The INSPIRE Internship Program is supported by the Department of Economic, Planning andDevelopment (JPKE) under the 10th National Development Plan for Human Resource Development Fund.

 

The two (2) students are Malai Ahmed Jazly Bin Malai Hassan and Khairani Binti Haji Zakaria. Both of them are currently undertaking Bachelor of Arts, Major in Professional Communications and the Media. Throughout the internship period, these students will be involved in various areas of radio broadcasting medium including programming of online promotions and event management as well as malay news and current affairs.

Present to bid them farewell yesterday at the Brunei International Airport were Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yusof, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Communications and Chairman of AITI, AITI’s senior management and senior officials from UBD. The students were awarded the INSPIRE Internship Program in a signing and award ceremony on 24 June 2014.  The ceremony included the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between AITI and Politeknik Brunei (PB) as well as the signing of INSPIRE award agreement between AITI and the six (6) successful students.  The UBD students will be joining the other four (4) INSPIRE recipients from Institut Teknologi Brunei (ITB) and Politeknik Brunei (PB) who have started their internship program earlier on 11 July 2014.

AITI hopes that upon completion of the program, the INSPIRE Award recipients will gain valuable working experience which will better prepare them to join the local workforce when they eventually graduate from their study in the respective institutions.
