Social Media Forum focuses on the positive

A Social Media Forum is an initiative by the Content Advisory Council (CAC) and organised by the Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) which took place at AITI building in Anggerek Desa. Participants included social media users, representatives from local educational institutions and universities as well as relevant government officials.
 
Present to give welcoming remarks was Yang Mulia Pengiran Mohd Zain bin Pg Hj Abdul Razak, Chief Executive of AITI.
 
The Guest of Honour at the event was Yang Mulia Haji Mohd Rozan bin Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yunos, Permanent Secretary of Prime Minister’s Office who gave a welcoming address.

The Forum aims to promote the positive use of social media and educate users about online etiquette. The forum is organised inconjunction with the World Telecommunications and Information Society Day 2015 (WTISD 2015), which the theme this year is “Telecommunications and ICTs : Drivers of innovation”.  It comprised of two sessions of panel discussions focused broadly on smart and responsible use of social media. 
 
The first session was themed “Encouraging partnership to build good ethics and self-regulation in the use of social media” and moderated by Mr Christopher Ng , Counsel and Deputy Public Prosecutor, Criminal Justice Division from Attorney General’s Chambers.  The panel consisted of representatives from the Royal Brunei Police Force, Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), AITI.
 
The second session was themed “Writing on the wall responsibly” and moderated by Mr Delwin Keasberry, popularly known as @BruneiTweet.  The panel consisted of representatives from The Brunei Times, IT Protective Security Services (ITPSS) Sdn Bhd and Universiti Brunei Darussalam.
