THE AUTHORITY TAKES STEPS TO ADDRESS PUBLIC CONCERNS
01/02/2013
The Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (“the Authority”) would like to assure the public that it is seriously looking into the public mobile telecommunications service outages and degradations affecting B-Mobile Communications Sdn Bhd subscribers.  It is understood that voice calls and SMS remain operational in some areas although at lower service levels than expected.

The Authority wishes to reassure the public that it is taking steps to ensure that B-Mobile Communications Sdn Bhd resolves the situation and restore provision of telecommunications service to normal levels in favour of the subscribers and public at the earliest possible time.

The Authority was set up to license and regulate the operation of telecommunications infrastructure and services in Brunei Darussalam.  Among the functions and duties of the Authority is to ensure that telecommunications services are reasonably accessible to all people in Brunei Darussalam, and are supplied as efficiently and economically as practicable and at performance standards that reasonably meet the social, industrial and commercial needs of Brunei Darussalam.  It is also the function of the Authority to promote and maintain fair and efficient market conduct and effective competition in the telecommunications market in Brunei Darussalam.
