The AITI Grant Scheme is introduced in line with one of AITI's functions and duties to encourage, promote, facilitate and provide assistance for the development of the ICT industry in Brunei Darussalam. The main objective is to encourage R&D activities and capabilities in producing local innovative products with commercial potential by the local ICT businesses and emphasizing on “Brunei-Made”. It is also believed that this scheme would strengthen R&D capabilities of Bruneians and encourage the development of local talents on local ICT contents and applications.

With the first three companies awarded grants on 26 November 2010, the Chief Executive of AITI, Haji Yahkup Haji Menudin is optimistic that more companies will apply for the Grant Scheme with more unique and innovative project proposals.
