Third Batch of Financial Assistance for Local ICT Industry

The Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) has announced the opening of the third batch of the AITI Grant Scheme application for the local ICT industry players.
 
The AITI Grant Scheme is introduced in line with one of AITI's functions and duties to encourage, promote, facilitate and provide assistance for the development of the ICT industry in Brunei Darussalam. The main objective is to encourage R&D activities and capabilities in producing local innovative products with commercial potential by the local ICT businesses and emphasizing on “Brunei-Made”. It is also believed that this scheme would strengthen R&D capabilities of Bruneians and encourage the development of local talents on local ICT contents and applications.

 

With the first three companies awarded grants on 26 November 2010, the Chief Executive of AITI, Haji Yahkup Haji Menudin is optimistic that more companies will apply for the Grant Scheme with more unique and innovative project proposals.

 

The AITI Grant Scheme follows the stages of ICT product or solution development by offering four (4) types of grants:
 
•  Product Development – for developing prototypes or concept testing;
•  Product Enhancement – for improving and upgrading design or processes;
•  Product Ownership – for obtaining certification and quality management systems; and
•  Product Packaging and Marketing – for marketing and improving existing packaging, design or labeling.
 
The grant amount varies depending on the type of grants applied and the classification of the company. Each applicant can apply for more than one type of grant for the same ICT product or solution.
 
AITI is once again pleased to invite all eligible local ICT businesses to apply for the AITI Grant Scheme. The period for submission is from Thursday, 30 December 2010 until Monday, 31 January 2011 before 4pm. Application forms and guidelines for this scheme are available for download at AITI's website www.aiti.gov.bn/grantscheme .
 
A tutorial workshop will be organised on Friday, 7 January 2011 to address any inquiries on this Grant Scheme as well as to provide guidelines for applying and to ensure applicants are submitting complete required documents to expedite the evaluation process.
