Three students represent Brunei at MICROSOFT Office Specialist (MOS) World Championship 2013

A group of three (3) sixth-form students left for Washington DC, United States of America to participate in the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) World Championship 2013 which will be held from 31 July until 3 August 2013 . MOS World Championship is an annual event organized by Certiport, Inc.  This is the first ever participation by Brunei and AITI is collaborating with Tech One Global (Certiport’s local partner) to support the students in this championship. 
 
The students will participate in the three (3) different categories of the championship as follows:
1)      Ahmad Haziq Muzakkir bin Hj Amer Iskandar from Maktab Duli Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah for MOS Power Point category
2)      Stephanie Lim Yee from Maktab Sains Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan for MOS Word
3)      Samuel Shie from PTE Meragang for MOS Excel
 
These students were selected from more than 200 sixth-form students who participated in the selection process starting from the preliminary, qualifying and final rounds.  They are the best among the best and are selected based on achieving the highest exam scores in the shortest time allocated.
 
Present to bid them farewell yesterday at the Brunei International Airport were Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Hj Mohd Yusof, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Communications and Chairman of AITI, AITI’s senior management, AITI’s members of authority and senior officials from the Ministry of Education. 
 
The students will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Education, AITI and Tech One Global.
This year’s MOS World Championship 2013 will have more than 80 countries participating including Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and Brunei.   
AITI hopes that this championship  will not only provide a platform for students to showcase their extraordinary skills using Microsoft Office tool, but also to gain exposure in international competition and to help put Brunei Darussalam in the global map for ICT.
