Dealer Type Approval
Type Approval is a process where an assessment is made by AITI to make sure that any telecommunications and radiocommunications equipment operated in Brunei Darussalam meets the national safety standards and technical requirement.
Dealer Type Approval (DTA) can be applied by a Dealer Licensee who plans to import (bring in) telecommunications and/or radiocommunications equipment for resale purposes.
The Dealer Type Approval (DTA) application is assessed based on the Brand and Model of the telecommunications and/or radiocommunications equipment to be imported. This application must be approved before applying for the Dealer Import Permit.
Dealer Import Permit is a separate application to allow Dealers to import (bring in) the telecommunications and/or radiocommunications equipment to Brunei Darussalam that has undergone the Type Approval process.
AITI will issue a registration document in the form of Equipment Registration as proof that the specific Brand and Model of the telecommunication and/or radiocommunication equipment has been assessed and registered with AITI and it can be used, sold and distributed safely in Brunei Darussalam.
“If anyone is found guilty in altering official AITI documents on purpose, they can be chargeable under the laws of Brunei Darussalam in reference to Section 464 of the Penal Code (Chapter 22)”
