AITI Contributes New Computer Devices to PKWE Brunei-Muara
A ceremony was held today at Senior Citizen Activity Centre (PKWE), Kg. Lambak Kanan, Brunei-Muara District, for the Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) to present two new laptops and one new printer to the Centre.
Present at the ceremony were Haji Jailani bin Haji Buntar, Chief Executive of AITI, and Awang Haji Mohd Yussof bin Hj Mohd Salleh, Manager of PKWE. Also attending were AITI’s senior management; representatives from Department of Community Development (JAPEM), Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports; and members of PKWE.
The ceremony concluded with a certificate presentation to PKWE members who recently participated in Digital for All, a digital capacity programme initiated by AITI to develop and enhance digital skills and increase technology adoption, as well as boost ICT usage in the daily lives of the identified communities including senior citizens.
In his remarks, AITI’s Chief Executive stated that everyone should have equal access to technology, regardless of age and socio-economic status and hopes that the contribution will create a positive impact for the Centre and its members. This effort is also in line with the aspiration of transforming Brunei Darussalam into a Connected Smart Nation, through creation of a digitally-ready society to keep up with technological changes.
As a way forward on the contribution, AITI will also provide training to the Centre members on the use of the devices. It is hoped that the addition of the new devices can support the Centre and its members in improving their productivity and encourage further interest in ICT.
