Breaking The Silence: AITI Hosts Second Mental Health Forum

Friday, October 25, 2024

In conjunction with World Mental Health Day 2024, the Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) successfully hosted its second mental health awareness forum, with the theme “Mental Health in the Workplace.” Held at the Health Promotion Centre, the event aimed to enhance awareness, promote effective mental health management, prioritise employees’ well-being, and reduce stigma and negative perceptions surrounding mental health.

The forum commenced with the recital of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by an insightful panel discussion featuring two (2) invited speakers; Puan Nor Syahmun binti Haji Matassan, Clinical Psychologist and Mental Health Strategy Lead at the Health Promotion Centre, Ministry of Health; and Ustaz Mohammad Khairul Nazif bin Haji Awang Damit, Deputy Dean of the Student Affairs Office at the Universiti Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA). The experts shed light on key mental health challenges faced in the workplace and Islamic perspective on mental health. The event concluded with a lively Q&A session that encouraged participation from all attendees.

In line with His Majesty’s recent Titah at the Knowledge Convention 2024 on ‘Addressing Mental Symptoms’, AITI took the opportunity to introduce its Wellness Programme, an initiative designed to provide additional support in managing employees’ mental health in the workplace to build a sustainable, high performing organisation that supports both employees and organisational goals.

The event was attended by AITI’s Senior Leadership Team and all AITI employees.
