Dealer Import Permit

Dealer Import Permit (DIP) is a Permit issued by AITI to authorise the importation of equipment for resale purposes in Brunei Darussalam. This permit is only applicable to Dealer Licence holders who has obtained Dealer Type Approval of the equipment imported (of same brand and model).

Importation of telecommunications and/or radiocommunications equipment for own personal use is not allowed to be applied under DIP in which a different set of requirements must be complied. Please click here to know more.

“If anyone is found guilty in altering official AITI documents on purpose, they can be chargeable under the laws of Brunei Darussalam in reference to Section 464 of the Penal Code (Chapter 22)”

Application Process

The application process to obtain Dealer Import Permit (DIP) as summarised as below:

Applicant submits complete online application form

AITI processes the application

Applicant will be notified if the application is approved or rejected

Successful applicant makes payment (if required)

Dealer Import Permit document issued

All applications must be made through the AITI Online Services.

Complete application will be processed within two (2) working days upon the submission.

Submission Requirements

Applicants must attach and upload the following document with their online applications:

Detention Receipt or Notice of Seizure issued by Royal Brunei Customs & Excise Department (RCED) or Shipping Detail or Airway Bill

Fees and Validity

Dealer Import Permit fees are only applicable to equipment that uses licensable frequency and will be charged at BND 20.00 per unit. The equipment subjected to this fee are as listed below:

  1. Amateur Radio
  2. Marine Radio
  3. Satellite Phone/Phonecall
  4. Kristal Astro
  5. Satellite Receiver
  6. Telex
  7. Walkie Talkie
  8. Security System with Telephone
  9. Security System
  10. Base Station
  11. Temporary Equipment
  12. Remote Control Transmitter

Dealer Import Permit is valid for only two (2) weeks from the date of issue. Import Permits cannot be extended and when lapsed, the applicant must submit a new Import Permit application online. 

 

Payments 

AITI has permanently closed all its physical counters since March 2020. All customers are advised to make payments through the AITI Online Services (Credit Card or Debit Card) for faster application processing time.

For Cash and Cheque payments, customers are advised to go to the nearest Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) or Baiduri Bank- Cash or Cheque Deposit Machines (CDMs). For alternative means of payment, please contact our Customer Services via:

Please note that AITI will only respond to text and emails during office hours.

However, kindly take note that the PIP application processing time will be longer for this type of payment menthod as verification of payment process is required before the issuance of the approved PIP application.
