The Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) is responsible for managing numbering under the AITI Order 2001.
The National Numbering Plan sets out the guidelines for management of Numbering resources.

Number Categories
Geographic Numbers
Geographic Numbers are numbers that consist of digits that indicate the geographical location of the Number. The uses of Geographic Numbers are presently limited to fixed telephony and data services.
Mobile Numbers
Mobile Numbers are numbers which are used for network or application services which encompass features such as the mobility of the terminating device and the concept of personal association with an assigned number.
Services which use these types of numbers are as follows:
- Public Cellular Services; and
- Machine-to-Machine Services.
Short Numbers
Short Numbers are a string of digits that have no connection to any particular geographic location in Brunei Darussalam. The common purpose for Short Numbers in Brunei Darussalam are:
- To establish a call to particular local designated services such as Emergency Number, Telephone Directory, Customer Services, Government Services, etc; and
- To access particular international services such as International Direct Dialling and International Economy Call.
Short Code Numbers categories are classified as below:
- International Access Short Code (IASC);
- Commonly Known Short Code (CKSC); and
- Emergency Numbers.
Special Service Numbers
Special Service Numbers are a string of digits that have no connection to any particular geographic location in Brunei Darussalam, which are used for the following services:
- Data Premium Service (DPS) (3YXXX);
- Freephone Service (1-800);
- Premium Service (1-900);
- Home Country Direct Service (800);
- International Freephone (801); and
- IP Telephony (5 3XX XXX and 5 4XX XXX).
These services are considered as a national and unified service to ensure that any caller is able to access the services by dialling the same digits regardless of the network or location of the call.
